A frustrated motel owner in New Zealand has banned an entire town from staying in his property.
Steve Donnelly, owner of the Supreme Motor Lodge in Palmerston North is fed up of the rowdy behaviour of sports teams from Wainuiomata who stay in his motel.
When Trevor Mallard, MP and former cabinet minister for Wainuiomata tried to book a room, he was told by manager Malcolm Glen, nicknamed Basil Fawlty, that he was banned.
Owner of Wainuiomata’s Parklands Motel, Mike Boese laughingly stated that it was perhaps a little over the top and suggested Donnelly simply turn away all sport’s groups.
Australian Donnelly said that having had around 100 guests from the town in the last few years, he had met only one he liked and stood by his decision to not take bookings form the residents of Wainuiomata, concluding “it is not worth it.”
