An American airline is planning to introduce flights purely for pampered pets.
With over 70m cats and dogs flying with their owners in America every year, Florida based Pet-Airways is set to launch flights between Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and New York.
Animals will be travelling within the cabin area and not in the hold, with specially trained Pet Attendants looking after their food, drink and exercise needs.
Pet owners will be able to track their pampered friends online after dropping them off in the Pet Lounge.
President/CEO of Pet Airways, Dan Wiesel believes that travelling in the hold on a regular basis can cause serious distress to animals and sometimes even death; he stated “This is not what most pet owners want to subject their pets to, but they have had no other choice, until now.”
Pet Airways will need an operating certificate to fly as a cargo airline from the Federal Aviation Administration.
