VisitBritain is marketing a global campaign to promote tourism to the UK; saying now is a great time to visit with the British pound at an all time low against other currencies.
Chairman of VisitBritain, Christopher Rodrigues believes foreign tourists need to be made aware that a trip to this country now could work out 40 to 50% cheaper than last year.
Rodrigues stated “We need to tell people the UK is great value in terms they understand, whether it be the Big Mac index or other measures.”
Rodrigues has been showcasing the great value of the UK in countries like Brazil, Hong Kong and particularly India where in February they introduced travel cards and a London pass, covering entry into various tourist attractions and available to buy before coming to the UK.
The 2010 Ryder Cup, the 2012 Olympics and 2014 Commonwealth Games are all incredibly good opportunities to boost travel and tourism to the UK. “It’s a time to build relationships…Britain needs to raise its game” commented Rodrigues.
VisitBritain has already propositioned the government to reduce the cost of a tourist visa to the UK in a bid to boost tourism in the UK.
