Thomson Airways has recruited its youngest ever ‘cabin crew’ in a bid to make its in-flight safety instructions more interesting.
During a ground breaking new safety video, children take the role of the cabin crew to guide passengers through potentially life saving procedures such as using life jackets and oxygen masks, location of emergency exits and seat belt rules.
Thomson hope the idea will capture the attention of passengers who sometimes adapt a ‘seen it all before’ attitude to the extremely important safety briefing.
During testing of the new film, results showed a 15% increase in passengers who paid full attention and a staggering 91% of children under 12 watched the film right to the end.
Having been approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) the film will feature on all short and mid haul flights from Monday 13th July, and on all long haul flights from September.
Carl Gissing, director of customer services at Thomson Airways stated “By adapting a somewhat quirky approach to a mandatory airline safety briefing, we believe we will achieve increased levels of attention from our customers.”
Gissing added that Thomsons are committed to communicating important safety procedures to all passengers and concluded “Any subsequent debate that arises over in-flight safety can only be a good thing.”
